Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and how to ask us to delete it.

Last updated: April 29, 2026

Who we are

Miami Gliders is a trade name of Unusual Attitudes, Inc., a small flight-instruction and glider-ride business based at Homestead General Airport (X51), 28790 SW 217th Ave, Homestead, FL 33030. For privacy questions or requests, email fly@miamigliders.com.

What we collect, and why

We only collect the personal information you give us when you fill in a form on this site. We do not run analytics, advertising trackers, or behavioral profiling.

Contact / ride request form

  • Fields: name, email, phone, ride preferences, your message.
  • Purpose: respond to your enquiry and (if you book) coordinate your ride.
  • Lawful basis (UK/EU GDPR): performance of a contract you ask us to enter, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.

Liability waiver

  • Fields: full legal name, date of birth, address, phone, email, signature, emergency contact. If a minor is named: the minor's name, age, and parental consent.
  • Purpose: required for you to fly with us — both contractual (the waiver is the contract) and to satisfy our liability insurer.
  • Lawful basis (UK/EU GDPR): performance of a contract and compliance with a legal obligation.

Gift certificate purchase

  • Fields: buyer's name, email, phone; recipient's name, email, phone.
  • Purpose: process the purchase, deliver the gift certificate to the recipient, and let the recipient redeem it.
  • Lawful basis (UK/EU GDPR): performance of a contract.

We never sell your information. We never share it with marketers.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of service providers to operate the site. They process information on our behalf:

  • Namecheap (United States) — web and email hosting; runs our database and delivers your form submission to our staff inbox.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) — Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly bot-protection challenge that runs invisibly when you submit a form. Loads only on form pages. Cloudflare participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
  • Google LLC (United States) — Google Calendar API (server-to-server). When staff confirm a booking, the date/time/aircraft and your name go into our private staff calendar. No browser-side Google scripts run on this site for site visitors.
  • AOL / Yahoo, Inc. (United States) — staff email mirror. The operator of this business uses an AOL inbox alongside fly@miamigliders.com; messages to fly@ are forwarded to that inbox.

We do not load Google Fonts, Google Analytics, or any social-media trackers from your browser. Google Maps is embedded on several pages (find-us section in the footer, plus the contact and weather pages); loading those pages will share your IP address with Google and may set Google-Maps cookies in your browser. Our address is published in plain text alongside every map and a static directions link is available, so the map itself is optional for finding us.

International transfers

Our hosting and email run in the United States. If you are in the EU or UK, your information will be transferred to and stored in the US. Cloudflare and Google participate in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; Namecheap and AOL/Yahoo are subject to standard contractual safeguards under their terms of service.

How long we keep it

  • Contact-form enquiries that don't lead to a booking: up to 3 years.
  • Customer records (people who flew with us): 7 years from your last activity (matches the recommended window for liability documentation).
  • Signed waivers: at least 7 years (insurance and FAA flight-record norms; see 14 CFR §61.189). After that, identifying details may be redacted while the signed page is archived.
  • Gift certificates: 1 year after the certificate's expiry date.
  • Admin login attempts: 90 days.
  • Admin action audit log: 1 year.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us to:

  • Show you what personal data we hold about you (access);
  • Correct anything that's wrong (rectification);
  • Delete your data (erasure), where we are not legally required to keep it (signed waivers are an exception during the retention period above);
  • Restrict or object to our processing;
  • Receive your data in a portable format;
  • Withdraw consent for any processing where consent was the basis.

To exercise any of these, email fly@miamigliders.com. We respond within 30 days, at no cost.

If you live in the EU or UK and you believe we've handled your data improperly, you have the right to complain to your national data protection regulator (e.g. the UK ICO at ico.org.uk).

If you live in California, you have similar rights under the CCPA; the same email address handles those requests.

Cookies

We set one cookie, only when staff log in to the admin area (PHPSESSID, strictly necessary for the login session). Public visitors to the site set no cookies from us. Cloudflare Turnstile may set a short-lived security cookie when you submit a form.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children online except via the liability waiver, which can only be completed by a parent or legal guardian on the minor's behalf.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we'll update the Last updated date and, for significant changes, post a notice on the homepage for 30 days.
